We'd like to extend a warm welcome to our newest team member, Campbell Cossens. Campbell is a .NET developer with our Software Development team.
He has had several years’ experience as a software developer within the Insurance Industry and has worked with .NET, MVC, SQL, Mulesoft and Angular JS technologies.
“Everyone at Stratos are tremendously talented and yet so down to earth,” says Campbell. “They’re so happy to share their information and experience.”
“Compared to large organisations everything is streamlined, I’m not spending lots of time in meetings. I’ve really enjoyed being able to get on with what I’m meant to be doing without as much distraction. That’s just so awesome.”
Campbell holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Otago University with a major in Computer Science and a minor in Electronics. He is a certified Scrum Master.
“When I first left school I did an electricians course but I wasn’t engaged. All the maths was super basic. I decided to shift over to computer science because it was so much more challenging. My first bit of code was making a set of lights switch on and off on an electronics board.”
“With programming, there is such a variety of things you can do with it. I like doing things, that’s where my passion lies, creating things, and showing it off to someone. All those hours of work came to something.”
“I started off with Java and Python. I liked it but once I started using C# and Visual Studio, it was so much nicer to use. I did some Android development with Java but once I did the same thing on C# it felt so much simpler. It made a lot more sense to me.”
When not at work, Campbell enjoys eating Indian, camping, plays competitive football, snowboarding, “Tricking,” which is a combination of martial arts and gymnastics and playing video games with friends.
