Stratos turns Six

Posted on 1 April 2017

Six years ago today, David, Peter and Steve registered Canterbury Business Solutions and started our journey into the world of business ownership. In 2015 we rebranded as Stratos Technology Partners and set a strategy to build our capabilities and team.

The past 18 months has been one of significant growth in our business both in Canterbury and other regions in New Zealand and Australia. Here are a few of the highlights.

David and Matt presented at Microsoft Ignite (New Zealand’s largest tech conference), demonstrating some of the things we’ve learnt from building a large scale clinical research system on Microsoft Azure. This system is now live in two Australian states, with more rolling out over the new few months.

We have undertaken projects from Invercargill to Northland and pretty much everywhere in between. We’re seeing the benefits of using cloud technologies in our own business and how it allows us to work from anywhere!

Stratos entered the New Zealand Hi-Tech Awards and the Champion Canterbury Business Awards for the first time. We didn’t make the finals in these awards, but we have learnt a lot through the evaluation process and will definitely give this a better shot next year.

David became the Chairman for the Canterbury Tech cluster, an organization which promotes and supports more than 600 Canterbury Technology businesses.

Steve became a Microsoft MVP for Office Servers and Services. This is an award for contribution to the global IT community and a recognition of expertise in SharePoint, Office 365 and related technologies.

Stratos was selected as one of 10 businesses to join the Canterbury Development Corporation (CDC) Hi-Growth Launch Programme. This is an intensive three month programme, covering 12 areas of business to help us build a long term growth strategy and business plan.

Cycling fans may have noticed some of our team in Le Race. A great effort from the guys who took on the challenge, well done.

We’d like to give big shout out to our clients, team, families and supporters. Thank you for your support, we couldn’t achieve the things we do without you.

Happy 6th Birthday to Stratos!

Cheers,

David, Peter and Steve
