See you at the Canterbury Tech Summit 2016

Posted on 30 August 2016

We're proud to be a sponsor of the Canterbury Tech Summit, the South Island's largest IT event.  This year inventor and pharmaceutical scientist, Sir Ray Avery will open the event with the keynote addressed followed by a wide range of inspiring local and international presenters.  If you are interested in attending, we have a couple of tickets to give away..

David Carter, a Director and Software Development Manager at Stratos, and also a committee member on Canterbury Tech, said “Christchurch has a thriving tech sector and the Tech Summit is a great way for us all to meet, celebrate and be inspired by all the great work that is happening in our community and abroad.  We have a range of world-class speakers this year and it promises to be a fantastic event.”

Stratos Technology Partners will be at the Canterbury Software Summit on Thursday September 15 at the Air Force Museum in Christchurch, and we hope to see you there.

The Canterbury Tech Cluster has lined up a fantastic group of business and technical experts for this year’s installation of their annual conference. Attendees can choose from 20 speakers across two main streams, as well as tutorials that take a deep dive into both business and technical topics.

This year, Sir Ray Avery is the keynote speaker.  Sir Ray was named the 2010 New Zealander of the year for his technological inventions that allowed low-cost intraocular lenses to be manufactured in high volumes.  His work led to the collapse of intraocular lens prices allowing cataract operations to be affordable to the poorest societies worldwide.

Since then some of his most notable developments include an innovative intravenous flow controller, new infant nutrition products and a high reliability low cost infant incubator.

Sir Ray Avery is joined by Annie Parker of muru-D, Ben O'Brien of StretchSense, Sian Simpson of Kiwi Landing Pad, Chris Morrison of Karma Cola and Dave Tinkler of Howard & Co in the business stream.  Business stream discussion panel members include Gabe Rijpma from Microsoft, John Ashcroft from Jade, Kaila Colbin from Singularity University and Rob Lindeman from HITLab NZ.

In the technical stream, Philip Lamb of DAQRI, Laura Bell of SafeStack, Craig Davies of Atlassian, Matt Neale of eStar, and Jordan Carter of InternetNZ will cover building tools for augmented reality, security and software architecture design.

The Tutorials will cover lessons learnt from assisting digital technology companies to succeed at Callaghan Innovation, how new technologies might affect professional services firms, and Open Data.

Stop by our stand in the exhibitors’ area where we'll be showcasing some of our work and have experts available to answer questions about software development.
